Tourist Places In and Around Deoghar

Baba Baidyanath Temple : It is one of the main tourist attraction of Deoghar. A large number of devotees visit this temple to offer their prayers in this holy shrine.

Nandan Pahar: It is a small hill is famous for Nandi Temple. It is at a distance of 3 km from Baba Baidyanath Dham station. The temples on the hill are famous for idols of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesh and Kartik. The hill also allow the tourist to splendor the views of the district, sunrise and sunset. There is also a Nandan Hill Entertainment Park on the hill. It has swimming and boating facilities. It also has park for children, a boot house, a ghost house, a mirror house and a restaurant.

Tourist places in Deogar

Shivganga: It is located at a distance of 200 mts from Baidyanath Temple. The pond has an ancient history associated with Ravana.

Naulakha Mandir: Located at a distance from 1.5 km from Baba Baidyanath Temple, is a nice visiting spot. It is a copy of Ramakrishna temple in Belur. The temple is dedicated to Radha - Krishna. The temple is located at a height of 146 feet and about Rupees Nine lakhs (9 lakhs) were spent to build the temple hence is named Naulakha Temple.

Harila Jori: The place in past was filled with Haritaki (Myrobalan) trees. It is it is a famous tourist place associated with history. The place is said to be a meeting point of Shiva and Vishnu.

Satsanga Ashram: It was established by Anukul Chandra. it is a holy place for devotees of Thakur Anukulchandra.

Trikut Pahar: This hill in Deoghar offers adventurous sports like trekking, wildlife adventures, picnic spot Ropeway, and a safe natural retreat.amidst the thick forest on the top of the hill is Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple and the hermitage of Sage Dayananda. There are three peaks in trikut Pahar and only two are suitable for trekking.

Tapovan: It is for famous Lord Shiva temple and is popularly known as Taponath Mahadeva. There are many caves here which remind us of the penance of Sri Sri Balananda Brahmachari and Sage Valmiki. the Shivalingam here is the main attraction here. Times back it was a meditation spot, called Tapobhumi, for the Nagas. It was also a military camp of the Palas during ancient period. There is a cracked roack enshrining a portrait of Lord Hanuman. On the foot hill is a small cemented Kund, known as Shukta Kund, where Goddess Sita is believed to take bath.

Pagla Baba Ashram: Established by Pagla Baba (Late Lilananda Thakur), the temple is dedicated to Radha – Krishna. Made of eight metals the idols weigh about 6 quintals.

Devasangha Math: There is a Nava Durga Temple at Devsangha Math dedicated to Goddess Durga in the Bengali style. There are the idols of Krishna, Annapurna and Maheshwara also. The temple was constructed in 1955. It also has a statue of Narendra Nath Brahmachary is also installed. Durga Puja is celebrated with great zest at Devsangha.

Hathi Pahar or Mahadevatari: Hathi Pahar or Mahadevatari is a small hillock. There is a temple of Shiva beneth this hill. The speciality of this hillock is that it looks like an elephant from a distance. There is a small stream of water. The water of the stream is believed to cure all stomach related diseases.

There is direct connectivity to Deoghar via roadways and railways. Deoghar has regular bus service from the buses of Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation Limited, West Bengal State Road Transport Corporation Limited and some private travel services. The nearest raiway station is Baidyanath Dham which is 7 Kms from Deoghar. This railway station has trains from Kolkata, New Delhi, Allahabad, Mumbai, Varanasi, and Bhubaneswar etc. Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport, Patna, is the nearest airport. It is located at a distance of 272 Kms from Deoghar. From Patna one can choose either railways or roadways to reach Deoghar.
